Seventh-rankedMonarcas (7-11) gave a tough game to first ranked Cangrejeras (14-4) in Juana Diaz on Sunday. The visitors from Santurce managed to secure only two-point victory 67-65 . However their fans expected much easier game. Santurce forced 19 Monarcas turnovers. American forward Shae Kelley (185-1991, college: Minnesota) scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Brianna Jones (177-1997, college: Georgetown) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Cangrejeras' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American center Imani McGee-Stafford (201-1994, college: Texas) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Tess Amundsen (185-1999, college: CSUN) scored 22 points. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-4 record. Newly promoted Monarcas dropped to the eighth place with 11 games lost.
